Disney Regains Rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
HOLLYWOOD - Animation giant Disney has regained the rights to cartoon character Oswald The Lucky Rabbit, the forerunner to Mickey Mouse.
I'm unclear on the concept: I thought (books, art, characters) became public domain after, oh, 50 years after the creator's death.

They did.

Very successful lobbying by some media giants have gotten it consistently extended. Now it's something like 75 or 85 years after the creator's death. Disney doesn't want Micky going Public Domain.

thanks for the link to the infomercialscams site! i use snopes all the time. i really pissed off an ex-friend when she sent me that stupid "Mars will pass close to the Earth" email last year. i referred her to snopes.com and she called them "unreliable" because they had they had banner ads on their site. LOL. just couldnt admit that she was wrong.
